Note cards with personality

I love designing note card sets for gifts. I always start off with reflecting about the person and what I like best about their personality. I think about what color palette would that person be? Then I create a set that matches their personality. I want to create a card that when you open it you know immediately who it's from because that person's smile comes through or you feel their warm hug of thanks just by the small note written inside. It's so special that you want to keep it on your window sill for weeks.

Greatlakes Database Business Card

Plastic is so last year...

This smart little bag from Papyrus caught my eye. The font is such a good choice in that it screams canvas, also the western flare of the font ties in nicely with the rope handle. Along with this bag I'd like to put a shout out for envirosax. These reusable bags are smashing and have such hip designs. They are designed so well that you just can't wait to pull them out at the grocery store and use them!

Central Park Chapel

This weekend we attended a small wedding at Central Park Chapel in Holland. It was a delightful little chapel along Lake Macatawa. The screen windows let the breeze in and the old fashioned pews were very lovely. It's nestled amongst some quaint cottage homes. A wonderful spot for a romantic summer wedding.

Driftwood

I love getting up early in Florida to go shell hunting. I fill my pockets with the little treasures I find on the beach. I love the textures and soft color palette of shells. I love putting them in my home because they bring me back to my favorite place, the beach. This summer in addition to my shells I took a liking to driftwood. Nate and I walk the beaches in search of the perfect pieces. I've been enjoying it around my house and in my garden.

Lime green and red combination

Every summer I walk through greenhouse after greenhouse searching for the right plant and color combination for my front planters. This year I chose brights instead of the earth tones that I usually go with. The colors pop from the road and I can't get enough of the lime green and red combination.

Creating a logo for a database company

Not much comes to mind when you think of an image to represent databases. In fact I feel overwhelmed when someone even speaks the word. I think of complexity, hours of coding and loads of data some how magically organized. So when Greg Adams approached me to create the identity for his database company I of course jumped at the opportunity but thought, this is going to be a challenge. I was excited about this project because Greg was starting his own business and my designs would be his client's first impression. Below is the logo we have finalized. Stay tuned for his Web site and business cards.
